The Villages of Moinabad Mandal: A Visitor's Map
· 6 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team
Moinabad is a mandal of villages, not a single town. Here is how the farmhouse villages sit along and off the Chevella road, and how to read them as a visitor.
When people say "a farmhouse in Moinabad" they rarely mean Moinabad town. Moinabad is a mandal in Ranga Reddy district, a cluster of villages on Hyderabad's western edge, strung along and off the Chevella road beyond the Outer Ring Road. The farmhouses sit in those villages, among mango orchards and open fields, and the village name on a listing tells you more about your drive and your evening than the word Moinabad does.
This is a map in words for a visitor: how the mandal is laid out, which villages carry the farmhouses, how the approach differs by village, and how to use the site's village pages to pick one.
The spine: the Chevella road
Everything in Moinabad hangs off one road. It leaves the city near Langar Houz and Himayat Sagar, crosses the ORR near Appa Junction, runs through Moinabad town and continues west to Chevella, then on to Vikarabad and the Ananthagiri hills. The farmhouse villages sit on either side of this road, some right on it and many a few kilometres down side lanes. On a map, picture the road as a spine running roughly east to west, with village lanes as ribs.
Two things follow from that. First, almost every route from the city ends on this road, whether you come off the ORR from Gachibowli or through Aziz Nagar from Mehdipatnam; the guide to reaching Moinabad from Hyderabad covers each approach. Second, the last stretch to any farmhouse is a village lane, and that is the part that takes longer than the map suggests and is dark at night.

The villages you will see on listings
These are the villages that appear most often on farmhouse pages on this site. Each has its own hub page showing the farmhouses listed there with live distances, which is the most reliable way to compare them.
| Village | How you will usually meet it |
|---|---|
| Aziz Nagar | The village the Himayat Sagar road passes through on the way from Mehdipatnam; the first farmhouse village many old-city groups reach |
| Yethbarpally | A farmhouse village with listings along its lanes; check the hub page for the current set |
| Tolkatta | Appears regularly on listings; its hub page shows live distances from your location |
| Surangal | Another listing village; compare on its hub page |
| Kanakamamidi | One of the better-known farmhouse names in the mandal |
| Amdapur, Bakaram, Venkatapur | Smaller clusters, each with a hub page |
| Nagireddiguda, Peddamangalaram, Nazeeb Nagar, Medipally | Mentioned on some listings; no separate hub page yet, so use the main list |
Notice what this table does not do: it does not tell you that one village is prettier, quieter or closer than another. We do not describe villages that way because it changes lane by lane. A farmhouse at the edge of a village next to the Chevella road and one at the far end of the same village down a kuccha lane are different experiences. The listing and its map pin tell you which you are getting.
Reading a village from the city side
The useful way to think about villages is by approach. Guests from the old city and Mehdipatnam arrive through Aziz Nagar on the Himayat Sagar road, so villages near that stretch feel closer to them. Guests from Gachibowli, Kokapet and the airport come off the ORR near Appa Junction and join the Chevella road there, so what matters for them is how far along the road the village lane turns off and how long the lane is. Guests from Secunderabad or Kompally take the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway and then Himayat Sagar, or the ORR, and have the longest drive either way.
Open the hub for a village you are considering, for example farmhouses in Aziz Nagar or farmhouses in Kanakamamidi, and the live distance from your location does the rest. Comparing two hub pages against your home pin is the quickest way to settle "which village" without local knowledge. For a decision method, see choosing a village in Moinabad.
Moinabad town versus the villages
Moinabad town is the mandal's centre, on the Chevella road, and it is where you will find the larger shops, fuel and the kind of errands a village lane cannot handle. Farmhouses are rarely in the town itself. The practical consequence: stock up either in the city or in Moinabad town on the way through, because the shops near farmhouses are small and close early. The town is also the landmark most caretakers use for directions ("after Moinabad, take the left at...").
What the lanes are like
Village lanes off the Chevella road vary from tarred roads to dirt tracks, and they are mostly unlit. For a day outing it hardly matters. For a night stay it decides whether late arrivals and the drive home are easy or stressful. Ask the farmhouse how far it is from the main road and whether the lane is paved; if you are arriving after dark for the first time, ask the caretaker to meet you at the turn. Phone signal drops in some lanes, so download the map area before you leave the city.
Around the villages
The mandal's setting is orchards and fields: mango in particular, which is why April to June brings fruit stalls on the roadside and why the lanes smell of blossom earlier in the year. To the north-east of the farmhouse belt sit the twin reservoirs, Osman Sagar at Gandipet and Himayat Sagar, with Chilkur Balaji temple on the Osman Sagar bank and the small Mrugavani National Park nearby. These are outings from a farmhouse, not reasons to pick one village over another, since any of them is a short drive from most of the belt. Further west, past Chevella, the road climbs to Vikarabad and Ananthagiri, which is a separate day trip rather than an add-on to a farmhouse evening. The places to visit near Moinabad guide has the full list.
Addresses, pins and finding the gate
Postal addresses in the mandal are village-based and do not locate a gate. Every farmhouse page on this site carries a map pin, and the caretaker's number comes with the confirmation; use both, and read how Moinabad addresses and pin codes work if you are the one navigating for the group.
Using the map
Start from the full list of farmhouses in Moinabad, filter by what your group needs, and then look at the village and the map pin of the two or three you like. Check the live distance from your side of the city on the village hub page, read the farmhouse's notes about the lane, and book the one whose approach suits your arrival time. The village name is the clue; the pin and the lane are the answer.

Frequently asked questions
Is Moinabad a town or an area?
Both. Moinabad is a mandal in Ranga Reddy district made up of villages along the Chevella road west of Hyderabad, and Moinabad town is its centre on that road. Farmhouses are mostly in the villages rather than in the town.
Which Moinabad village is closest to Hyderabad?
It depends on where you start. Groups from Mehdipatnam and the old city reach Aziz Nagar first via the Himayat Sagar road; groups from Gachibowli join the Chevella road off the ORR. Village hub pages show live distances from your location.
Are the village roads to farmhouses in Moinabad paved?
Some are tarred and some are dirt tracks, and most are unlit at night. Ask the farmhouse how far it is from the Chevella road and whether the lane is paved, especially for a night stay.
Where can I buy supplies near a Moinabad farmhouse?
Shops near the farmhouses are small, so stock up in the city or in Moinabad town on the Chevella road on your way in. Carry drinking water, ice and anything specific your group needs.
