A Moinabad Farmhouse Glossary for New Guests
· 5 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team
Base guests, add-ons, refundable deposit, location pin: a plain-English glossary of the terms you will see when booking a Moinabad farmhouse for the first time.
Booking a Moinabad farmhouse for the first time comes with its own vocabulary. Listings mention base guests, extra guest charges, add-ons, power backup and refundable deposits, and the WhatsApp chat may throw in a few more. This glossary explains each term in plain language, so you know exactly what you are reading before you book.
Terms are grouped by when you will meet them: while searching, while booking, and once you arrive. Where a term depends on the farmhouse, we say so, because rules and inclusions vary from property to property.
Terms you meet while searching
- Moinabad: a mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Hyderabad's western edge, along the Chevella road past the ORR. It has the largest cluster of private farmhouses near the city.
- Village hub: a page listing farmhouses in one village, such as Aziz Nagar, Kanakamamidi, Surangal or Tolkatta, with live prices and approximate distances.
- Private farmhouse / whole booking: the entire property, house, pool and lawns, is reserved for your group only.
- Private pool: a pool used only by your group during the booking. Our page on private pool farmhouses lists them.
- Kids' pool: a separate shallow pool for small children. Not every farmhouse has one.
- Box cricket: a netted, enclosed pitch for short-format cricket. Some are lit for night games.
- Location pin: the map pin on the listing. It tells you how far the farmhouse is from the main road and how much of the drive is on village roads.

Price and booking terms
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Base guests | The number of guests included in the listed price |
| Extra guest charge | A per-person amount for each guest above the base number |
| Maximum guests / guest cap | The most people the farmhouse allows, regardless of payment |
| Weekday and weekend rates | Monday to Thursday is usually cheaper; Friday, Saturday and holidays cost more |
| Add-ons | Extras priced separately, such as a bonfire, barbecue or meals |
| Live availability | Real-time open dates shown when you pick dates on a farmhouse page |
| Booking request | A free enquiry; the team confirms details on WhatsApp. It does not reserve the farmhouse |
| Online booking | Reserving and paying on the site by UPI, card or net banking |
| Refundable deposit | An amount some farmhouses hold against damage and return after check-out |
| Cancellation policy | The rules for refunds if you cancel |
For how these combine into a real quote, see our post on how to read a farmhouse quote, and read the cancellation policy before paying.
Stay types
- Day outing: a daytime visit with no overnight stay. Timings vary by farmhouse.
- Night stay / overnight: you stay the night, usually checking in early afternoon and out late the next morning.
- Check-in and check-out: the times your booking starts and ends. They vary by farmhouse, so check the page.
- Long weekend: a weekend stretched by a public holiday. These dates usually book up early.
Terms you meet on arrival
People
- Caretaker: the person on site who opens up, shows you around and helps with basics. Many farmhouses have one; their role, and whether they cook, varies.
- Host: the owner or manager who sets the house rules.
Rules and paperwork
- House rules: the property's own rules on music, pets, outside food, alcohol, decorations and so on.
- Photo ID: a government photo ID usually asked of every adult guest.
- Music timing: the time after which outdoor music must stop or move indoors.
- No glass by the pool: a common rule. Use plastic or steel near the water.
Facilities
- Power backup: a generator or inverter for village power cuts. Check what it runs; it may cover lights and fans but not every AC.
- BBQ setup: a grill or barbecue area; charcoal and food may be extra or yours to bring.
- Bonfire area: a marked spot for a fire, often an add-on.
- Party speaker: a sound system some farmhouses provide.
- Lawn: the open grass area used for games, seating and events.
Places you will hear mentioned
- Chevella road: the main road west from Hyderabad through Moinabad towards Chevella.
- Appa Junction: where many drivers leave the ORR for the Chevella road.
- Chilkur Balaji: the well-known "Visa Balaji" temple on the banks of Osman Sagar. See farmhouses near Chilkur Balaji.
- Gandipet / Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar: the twin reservoirs built in the early twentieth century for flood protection and drinking water. No swimming.
- Mrugavani National Park: a small protected forest near Chilkur with spotted deer, sambar and birds. Check current timings.
Putting the terms together
Here is how the vocabulary reads in practice. Say a listing shows a Saturday price for fifteen base guests, an extra guest charge per head, a maximum of twenty-five, a bonfire add-on and a refundable deposit. If your group is eighteen people and you want the bonfire, your total is the Saturday price, plus three extra guest charges, plus the bonfire. The deposit is separate and comes back after check-out if all is well, at farmhouses that take one.
Now say you pick the following Tuesday instead. The weekday rate is usually lower, and the same farmhouse may have more availability. That is why it is worth checking a few dates before you settle.
A few phrases also turn up in WhatsApp chats with the team:
- "Dates are open": the farmhouse shows availability for your dates, but it is not held until you book.
- "Confirmed": your booking and payment have gone through, and the dates are yours.
- "Rules on the page": the house rules listed on that farmhouse's page apply to your stay.
Ready to use the words
Now that the jargon makes sense, browse Moinabad farmhouses, pick your dates and read a listing or two with fresh eyes. If a term on a page is still unclear, ask on WhatsApp before you book.

Frequently asked questions
What does "whole farmhouse booking" mean?
It means your group has the entire property, including the house, pool and lawns, for the booked time. You do not share the facilities with other guests.
What is an extra guest charge at a farmhouse?
The farmhouse price includes a set number of guests. Each person above that number is usually charged per head, and the farmhouse page shows the details.
Is a booking request the same as a confirmed booking?
No. A booking request is free and starts a conversation on WhatsApp. The farmhouse is only reserved once you complete the booking and pay.
Is the caretaker a cook?
Not necessarily. A caretaker looks after the property and helps with basics; whether cooking or meals are available, and at what cost, varies by farmhouse.
