How Many Extra Guests Can You Bring, and What Does It Cost?
· 5 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team
Farmhouse prices cover a set number of guests, with extras charged per person up to a cap. Here is how the three numbers work and how to plan an uncertain headcount.
Every Moinabad farmhouse price covers a set number of guests, and most owners allow a few more on top at a per-person charge, up to a hard cap. How many, at what rate, and whether children count all depend on the farmhouse. The listing page shows the base count and the maximum for each property, and the price updates as you change the guest number before you pay.
So the honest answer to "how many extra guests?" is "as many as the cap allows, at the rate the page shows". The rest of this post is about reading those numbers correctly and not getting caught out at the gate.
The three numbers on every listing
| Number | What it means | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Base guests | How many people the quoted price already includes | Next to the price on the farmhouse page |
| Extra guest charge | A per-person amount added for each guest above the base, for that slot | Shown when you raise the guest count while checking dates |
| Maximum capacity | The hard cap; the owner will not accept more than this, at any price | In the listing details and the house rules |
Two things trip people up. First, the base and the cap are different numbers; a farmhouse "for 15" may be priced for 10 with up to 15 allowed. Second, the extra charge is per person per slot, so it is different for a day outing and a night stay. Our guest capacity post goes into how owners arrive at these figures.
Do kids, infants and drop-in visitors count?
This is where policies vary most, so ask rather than assume:
- Infants are not counted at many farmhouses, but the age at which a child becomes a guest differs from one owner to the next.
- Children are sometimes counted as half a guest for pricing, sometimes as a full guest, and almost always counted in full against the cap.
- Day visitors during a night stay, such as relatives who come for the cake and leave by evening, usually count while they are on the property. The cap is about people inside the gate, not beds slept in.
- Drivers, cooks and decorators you bring along may or may not be counted; some owners exclude working staff, some do not.
The house rules on each page cover most of this, and the WhatsApp line (+91 91827 69746) can check the rest with the owner before you book.
Why the cap is firm
Owners are not being difficult. A farmhouse in a village such as Surangal or Kanakamamidi has a pool with no lifeguard, a fixed number of bathrooms, a water supply sized for a household, parking on a lane, and neighbours who hear everything. Thirty people in a house built for fifteen stretches all of those at once, and the caretaker is the one who has to manage it. That is why the caretaker counts heads at the gate and why the cap is written into the rules rather than negotiated on the day.
What happens if more people turn up than you booked
It depends on the farmhouse, and the house rules usually say. The common outcomes, roughly in order of how often they happen:
- Charged at the gate. If you are still under the cap, the caretaker adds the extra-guest charge for each additional person and you pay before they come in.
- Extras turned away. If the group is over the cap, the people beyond it are not admitted. This is a miserable conversation to have with a cousin who has driven an hour from Kompally.
- Deposit deducted. Some owners treat an uncounted crowd as a breach of the rules and take it from the refundable deposit.
- Booking ended. Rare, but a group far over the limit can be asked to leave without a refund.
The fix for all four is the same: tell the host the real number before the day.
Planning with an uncertain headcount
- Book for the likely number, not the hopeful one. It is easier to add two guests on WhatsApp the day before than to argue down a charge at the gate.
- Check the cap covers your maximum. If forty people might come, do not book a farmhouse capped at thirty and hope. Look at the large-group farmhouses instead.
- Set an RSVP cutoff two or three days out, then send the host the final count and any changes to the children's number.
- Agree how extras are paid for. If the organiser is splitting the bill, decide in advance whether late additions pay their own extra charge. The cost-sharing post has a simple method.
- Keep a copy of the confirmed count on your phone so the gate conversation is short.
Picking a farmhouse by group size
Rather than stretching a small property, start from the size you need. The farmhouses for 30 guests page filters by capacity, and the 40-guest post looks at what changes once a group gets that large: kitchen, bathrooms, parking and noise. For small groups the opposite applies; a farmhouse priced for six will cost less than one priced for fifteen, even on the same lane.
Check the live number before you pay
Open the farmhouse page, enter your real headcount with children counted separately, and watch the price change. If the extra charge is not shown or the children's rule is unclear, ask on WhatsApp before you pay. The price list page is a quick way to compare base counts across farmhouses before you open each one.

Frequently asked questions
Is the farmhouse price per person or for the whole property?
For the whole property, covering a set number of guests. Guests above that number are charged per person for the slot, up to the farmhouse's maximum capacity. Both figures are on the listing page.
Are children charged as extra guests at Moinabad farmhouses?
It varies. Infants are often not counted, and older children may be counted as half or full guests. Nearly all farmhouses count children against the capacity cap, so include them in your headcount and ask the host about the pricing rule.
Can we pay for extra guests at the gate?
Often yes, as long as the total stays within the cap, but it is better to update the count with the host before the day. Guests beyond the cap are usually not admitted regardless of payment.
Do guests who only visit for a couple of hours count?
Usually yes, while they are on the property. The cap is about the number of people inside the gate at one time, not the number sleeping over, so tell the host about day visitors in advance.
