Questions to Ask About Pool Cleaning Before You Book
· 5 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team

The pool cleaning questions to ask a Moinabad farmhouse host before booking, what good answers sound like and what to check on arrival.
Before you book a pool farmhouse in Moinabad, ask the host how and when the pool is cleaned between groups, how the water is treated and filtered, and whether you can see a recent photo or video of the pool. Clear, specific answers are a good sign. Vague ones are worth a follow-up question, or a look at another farmhouse.
A private pool is the main reason most groups book a farmhouse in Moinabad. It is also the one feature you cannot judge from glossy listing photos alone. This post gives you a ready list of questions, explains what good answers sound like, and tells you what to check yourself on arrival.
Why ask at all
Farmhouse pools are used by a new group almost every day on busy weekends, often with sunscreen, food and a lot of people. In the dusty months before the monsoon, and in the rains when leaves and silt blow in, they need regular attention. Most caretakers know their pools well, but asking makes sure the pool will be ready for your group, not the group before.
Asking is also normal. A booking request on this site is free and doesn't reserve the farmhouse, so you can ask everything before you commit. Or just message us on WhatsApp.
The questions to send
About cleaning
- Is the pool cleaned between every booking? What does that include?
- Who does it: the caretaker, or a pool service?
- When will it be cleaned before our check-in?
- Is the kids' pool (if there is one) cleaned on the same schedule?
About the water
- How is the water treated, and how often is it tested?
- Is there a working filter and pump? Does it run on power backup during a cut?
- How often is the water changed or topped up?
About the setup
- Is there a shower near the pool for guests to use before swimming?
- Are there pool rules we should share with our group?
- Could you send a recent photo or short video of the pool?
You don't need to send all of these. Pick the ones that matter for your group. Families with toddlers might care most about the kids' pool; a big party group might ask more about filtration and showers.
What good answers sound like
| Question | Reassuring answer | Worth a follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaned between bookings? | Yes, with a short description of what is done | "It's always clean" with no detail |
| Water treatment | A clear routine, such as regular dosing and testing | Unsure, or "only when it looks dirty" |
| Filter and pump | Runs daily; mention of backup during power cuts | Not sure whether it is working |
| Recent photo | Sent the same day, clear water visible | Only old listing photos |
One vague answer is not a reason to walk away. Hosts and caretakers are busy, and they may simply need a more specific question. But if several answers stay vague, compare with another farmhouse on the private pool farmhouses in Moinabad page.
What to check when you arrive
Do a quick pool check during your walk-around with the caretaker at check-in:
- Clarity. You should be able to see the floor clearly at the deep end.
- Smell. A very strong chemical smell, or a musty one, is worth asking about.
- Surface. Some leaves are normal in an orchard setting; a thick layer is not.
- Walls and steps. Slippery green patches mean the pool needs attention.
- Edges and tiles. Note any cracked tiles to the caretaker, both for safety and for your deposit.
If something looks off, tell the caretaker straight away and send a photo on WhatsApp. It is far easier to sort out at check-in than in the middle of your party. Our post on deposits and house rules explains why a quick photo at check-in helps.
Your group's part
A clean pool stays clean only if guests help. Most house rules about the pool are about hygiene:
- Shower before getting in, especially after the drive and sunscreen
- Swimwear in the pool, not jeans or everyday cotton clothes
- Swim nappies for babies and toddlers
- No food or drinks in the water, and no glass near it at all
- No confetti, glitter or petals that clog filters
- Anyone unwell skips the pool for the day
Pool rules vary by farmhouse; the farmhouse page lists them. Sharing them in the group chat before the trip saves the caretaker from repeating them.
If you are staying more than one night
On a two- or three-night stay, the pool is used heavily and nobody else is booked in between, so ask how it will be looked after during your stay. Some caretakers skim the surface and check the pump each morning; others prefer to do it at a time that suits your group. Agree a short window, perhaps early morning before anyone swims, when the caretaker can work without interruption. Keep the pool cover on overnight if the farmhouse has one, and clear cups and plates from the deck before bed so nothing blows into the water.
Seasonal notes for Moinabad
Hot months from March to June bring heavy pool use and evaporation. The monsoon, roughly June to September, can bring silt, leaves and insects after storms; a pool may need extra cleaning the morning after heavy rain. In the cool months from November to February, pools are used less and stay cleaner, but early-morning water can be chilly. If you are going in the monsoon, our post on Moinabad in the monsoon covers the rest of the trip.
Ask, then swim
A few questions sent before booking give you confidence that the pool will be ready when you arrive. Shortlist farmhouses on the Moinabad farmhouse list, send your questions on WhatsApp or through the contact page, and pick your dates to see live availability and the full price.

Frequently asked questions
Are farmhouse pools in Moinabad cleaned between bookings?
Cleaning routines vary by farmhouse. Ask the host what is done between groups and when the pool will be cleaned before your check-in.
Can I ask for a photo of the pool before booking?
Yes. Asking for a recent photo or short video on WhatsApp is a reasonable request and helps you see the current state of the water.
What should I do if the pool looks dirty on arrival?
Tell the caretaker immediately and send a photo on WhatsApp, so it can be sorted before your group starts swimming.
Why do farmhouses ask guests to shower before swimming?
Showering removes sweat, dust and sunscreen, which keeps the water cleaner for longer and helps the filter do its job.
