How Far Is Moinabad From Your Part of Hyderabad?
· 5 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team
Rough distance and drive-time ranges from every side of Hyderabad to the Moinabad farmhouse belt, and why the exact figure depends on your village and the traffic.
It depends on which village your farmhouse is in and what the road is doing that day. As a working range, most Moinabad farmhouses sit roughly 25–35 km from Gachibowli and the Financial District, roughly 25–35 km from Mehdipatnam, and roughly 40–50 km from Secunderabad, with drive times that stretch badly on Friday evenings and long weekends.
This post gives you rough distance and time ranges from the main parts of Hyderabad, explains why we refuse to print a single number, and shows where the exact figure for your farmhouse actually lives.
Why ranges, not exact figures
Moinabad is a mandal, not a point on the map. Its farmhouses are spread across villages such as Aziz Nagar, Yethbarpally, Tolkatta, Surangal, Kanakamamidi, Amdapur, Bakaram and Venkatapur, and many sit a few kilometres off the Chevella road on village lanes. Two farmhouses that both say "Moinabad" can be a good fifteen minutes apart.
Traffic adds a second layer. The same route that takes 35 minutes on a Tuesday afternoon can take twice that on a Friday evening or at the start of a long weekend. So every figure below is a band, and you should treat the top of the band as the realistic plan for weekend departures.

Distance from Hyderabad localities to Moinabad
These are indicative ranges to the Moinabad farmhouse belt, outside peak traffic. Add time for the last stretch on village roads.
| Where you start | Rough distance | Off-peak drive | Usual route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gachibowli / Kokapet / Financial District | roughly 25–35 km | roughly 30–45 min | ORR to the Chevella road exit near Appa Junction |
| Kondapur / Kukatpally | roughly 35–45 km | roughly 50–70 min | ORR |
| Banjara Hills / Jubilee Hills | roughly 30–40 km | roughly 45–60 min | Mehdipatnam, Langar Houz, Himayat Sagar |
| Mehdipatnam / Tolichowki / old city | roughly 25–35 km | roughly 40–55 min | Langar Houz, Himayat Sagar, Aziz Nagar (no toll) |
| Secunderabad / Begumpet | roughly 40–50 km | roughly 60–80 min | PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, then Himayat Sagar; or the ORR |
| Kompally / north Hyderabad | roughly 50–60 km | roughly 75–95 min | ORR |
| Airport (Shamshabad) | roughly 35–45 km | roughly 45–60 min | ORR, exit near Appa Junction |
| LB Nagar / Dilsukhnagar | roughly 45–55 km | roughly 70–90 min | ORR |
If your village is one of the first off the main road, you will land at the low end. If it is deeper in, or you reach it through a second village, plan for the high end. Treat the table as a way to compare starting points, not as a promise about any single farmhouse.
West Hyderabad: the short side
Gachibowli, Kokapet, Nanakramguda and the Financial District are the closest big residential belts, which is a large part of why Moinabad is so popular with office groups from that side. The ORR is tolled, but it is fast and predictable, and the exit for the Chevella road near Appa Junction puts you straight on the approach. After-work Friday departures are the one trap: leaving at 6 pm versus 8 pm can be the difference between 40 minutes and well over an hour.
Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki and the old city
From this side you do not need the ORR at all. The road through Langar Houz runs past Himayat Sagar and enters the mandal at Aziz Nagar, so farmhouses around Aziz Nagar are the quickest reach for old-city families. The catch is Langar Houz itself, which crawls in the evening. Distance-wise this is one of the shortest approaches; time-wise it can be slower than the toll road at the wrong hour.
Secunderabad, Begumpet and the north
This is the long haul, and it is where the range is widest. The PV Narasimha Rao Expressway gets you over the city quickly and drops you towards Himayat Sagar; the alternative is to join the ORR and come round. Which is better depends on the hour, so check a live map just before you leave rather than deciding in advance. North Hyderabad groups often find a Saturday morning start far less tiring than a Friday night one, and the drive back on Sunday is easier before the evening build-up.
Airport, Shamshabad and the south-east
Arriving guests from the airport and families from LB Nagar or Dilsukhnagar both use the ORR, exiting for the Chevella road. The distance is mostly ring road, so it is smooth, but there is no short cut; the south-east of the city is simply far from the west. Cabs to Moinabad are easy to book from the airport, though a ride back from a village can take longer to arrive, so book the return early.
What moves the number more than distance
- Friday evening and long-weekend traffic can double travel time on every route above, whichever side you start from.
- The village lane. The last few kilometres are often single-track and unlit; at night, slow down and expect it to take longer than the map says.
- Which farmhouse. Villages such as Tolkatta and Kanakamamidi show live distances on their village hub pages, which is more useful than any mandal-level number.
- Your return. Sunday evenings bring their own crawl back into the city; the post on Sunday traffic back from Moinabad explains when to leave.
A quick way to compare two farmhouses
When you have shortlisted two or three, open each location pin in your map app from your home address at the time of day you actually plan to leave. The app's estimate will differ from the table above, and that is the point: it accounts for your lane, your side of the city and the hour. If two farmhouses are otherwise equal, the one that saves everyone twenty minutes each way is the better booking, especially for a day outing where the drive is a bigger share of the day.
Get the exact figure for your farmhouse
Every farmhouse page carries a location pin; open it from your own doorstep and you have a real number instead of a range. Village hub pages list distances for the farmhouses in that village, and the how to reach Moinabad guide walks through each route turn by turn. For specific starting points, see the posts on reaching Moinabad from Kondapur and Kukatpally and from LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar.
When you are ready, browse Moinabad farmhouses, open the pin on the ones you shortlist, and let the real drive time from your home decide between them.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Moinabad from Gachibowli?
Roughly 25–35 km depending on which village your farmhouse is in, and roughly 30–45 minutes outside peak traffic via the ORR and the Chevella road exit near Appa Junction. Friday evenings can double that.
Which part of Hyderabad is closest to Moinabad?
The west and south-west: Gachibowli, Kokapet, the Financial District and the Mehdipatnam–Tolichowki side are all within a short drive. Secunderabad, Kompally and LB Nagar are the long hauls at roughly 40–60 km.
Do I need to use the toll road to reach Moinabad?
No. From Mehdipatnam and the old city, the Langar Houz–Himayat Sagar–Aziz Nagar road is toll-free. From Gachibowli, the airport and the north, the ORR is faster but tolled.
Where can I see the exact distance to a specific farmhouse?
Open the location pin on the farmhouse page in your map app from your own address. Village hub pages on the site also show live distances for the farmhouses in each village.
