The Chevella Road: A Driver's Guide From the ORR to Moinabad
· 5 min read· by Moinabad Farmhouses Team

Most Moinabad farmhouse trips end on the Chevella road. What the drive is like after the ORR, how to spot your turn and stay safe on the final stretch.
The Chevella road is the spine of almost every Moinabad farmhouse trip. You leave the Outer Ring Road near Appa Junction, follow the Chevella road west into Moinabad, and then turn off onto a village road to reach your farmhouse. The road itself is straightforward; what makes a difference is knowing what kind of traffic to expect, where to stock up, and how to find your turn without overshooting.
Here is a driver's view of the stretch, from the ORR exit to the farmhouse gate.
Leaving the ORR
If you are coming from Gachibowli, Kokapet, Kondapur or the airport side, you will be on the ORR, which is tolled. Set your navigation to the farmhouse's exact location pin before you join, so the exit for the Chevella road near Appa Junction is called out in time. Missing it means a long loop to the next exit.
Coming from Mehdipatnam or the old city, you will probably not use this stretch at all; the route through Langar Houz, Himayat Sagar and Aziz Nagar reaches Moinabad from a different direction. Our main page on how to reach Moinabad from Hyderabad covers every approach.
What the road is like
Once you are on the Chevella road, the city quickly thins out. You pass open land, fields and the beginnings of the farmhouse belt. A few things to expect:
- Mixed traffic: cars, buses, trucks, two-wheelers, autos and the occasional tractor share the road. Overtake only when you have a clear view.
- Crossing points: villages and junctions along the road mean people and vehicles crossing. Slow down near them.
- Speed breakers: some are well marked, some are not. Low cars need care.
- Weekend peaks: Friday evenings heading out and Sunday evenings heading back are the busiest. Friday-evening and long-weekend traffic can double travel time.
Stocking up before the turn
Shops near the farmhouses are small. Do the main shopping in the city, and treat Moinabad town on the main road as a backup for things you forgot, not as your supermarket. A sensible rhythm:
| Item | Where to get it |
|---|---|
| Groceries, meat, snacks, drinks | In the city before you leave |
| Ice | Last stop in the city, or ask the host if they can arrange it |
| Forgotten basics | Moinabad town on the main road |
| Fuel | Fill up in the city, so the return is not a worry |
Our post on groceries and supplies before check-in has a full shopping list.
Finding your village turn
This is where most groups lose time. Farmhouses are spread across villages such as Aziz Nagar, Yethbarpally, Tolkatta, Surangal, Kanakamamidi, Amdapur, Bakaram and Venkatapur, and many sit a few kilometres off the main road.
- Follow the pin, not the name. Farmhouse names on maps are not always reliable. Use the exact pin from your booking.
- Ask for a landmark. The caretaker can usually describe the turn off the main road. Note it down.
- Watch your distance. When navigation says the turn is close, move to the correct side early and slow down.
- Do not U-turn on the highway. If you overshoot, continue to a safe spot to turn.
- Call ahead. Ring the caretaker as you leave the main road so the gate is open.
The village hub pages, such as Amdapur farmhouses or Venkatapur farmhouses, show approximate distances for each farmhouse, which helps you judge how long the village stretch will be.
The village road: a different kind of driving
After the turn, slow down. Village roads can be narrow, uneven and, at night, unlit. Expect cattle, children, farm vehicles and two-wheelers without lights. In the monsoon, patches can be muddy. If you are arriving after dark, read our tips on arriving at a Moinabad farmhouse after dark.
Be a good neighbour on the way in: do not honk at night, do not park on the village road, and keep the music down until you are inside the gate.
Beyond Moinabad on the same road
Keep driving west and the Chevella road takes you to Chevella, and further on to Vikarabad and the forested Ananthagiri hills, which are lovely in the monsoon. That is a separate day trip rather than a quick add-on to a farmhouse stay; plan it as its own outing.
The Chevella road by season
| Season | What changes | Driving tip |
|---|---|---|
| Summer, March to June | Hot afternoons and harsh glare | Drive early or late; carry water |
| Monsoon, roughly June to September | Wet road, puddles, muddy village approaches | Slow down, keep longer gaps, use headlights in heavy rain |
| Winter, November to February | Pleasant days, cool evenings, occasional morning haze | Watch for low visibility early in the morning |
Mango season, from April to June, brings the orchards to life, and you may see more farm vehicles and fruit sellers along the way. Be patient around them.
A quick driver's checklist
- Exact location pin saved and shared with every car.
- Caretaker's number in your phone.
- Fuel tank filled in the city.
- Shopping done before you leave.
- Offline map downloaded for the village stretch.
- A sober driver confirmed for the way back.
Driving back
The return is the same road in reverse. Leave soon after a late-morning check-out to avoid the evening rush, and never drive after drinking. If a guest is taking a cab, book it early; a ride from a village can take longer to arrive.
Plan the drive with the farmhouse
Pick your dates and compare farmhouses across Moinabad's villages, looking at live prices and distances from the main road. Reserve online or send a free booking request, and ask the host for directions on WhatsApp.
